Project White House announces televised Tucson Weekly/Access Tucson/Project White House debate!

The Tucson Weekly is teaming up with Access Tucson to sponsor a televised debate among Project White House candidates appearing on the Feb. 5 Arizona presidential primary ballot.

The one-hour debate will be broadcast live from Access Tucson studios at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23 on Channel 99 on the Cox Cable system in Tucson and Channel 74 on the Comcast Cable system.

Project White House is a Reality Journalism competition sponsored by Tucson Weekly. Candidates who have qualified for the Arizona’s presidential primary are competing in a variety of challenges to win the Tucson Weekly’s endorsement.

More than half of the 48 candidates on Arizona’s presidential primary ballot are participating in Project White House. Of the 24 candidates on the Democratic ballot, 15 have agreed to participate in Project White House. Of the 24 candidates on the Republican ballot, 10 have agreed to participate in Project White House.

Only two candidates from each party will be part of the Tucson Weekly/Access Tucson/Project White House debate. The candidates will have to compete over the next two weeks for a spot in the televised debate.

Average, everyday citizens will be encouraged to post short videos on YouTube asking questions for the Project White House candidates.
